If you’ve ever thought, “I have no idea where we should take photos,” you are absolutely not alone.

Choosing a location feels like a big decision, but here’s the truth most people don’t realize… the right lighting and the right connection matter more than the location itself. That said, I do have a handful of spots that photograph beautifully every single time, and I help my clients choose based on the vibe they want, not just a pin on a map.

First, Let’s Talk About the Vibe

Before we even pick a location, I have you fill out a quick questionnaire so I can get a feel for your vibe, what you love to do together, and how you want your photos to feel. That way I’m not just picking a pretty spot, I’m choosing one that actually fits you.

Do you want something:

Warm and glowy with sunset light

Outdoorsy with water, trees, and movement

Quiet and a little more tucked away

Or fun and different from the usual

Once we figure that out, the location part gets a whole lot easier.

My Go-To Locations Around St. Charles + St. Louis

For That Golden, Outdoorsy Feel

Locations like Busch Wildlife, Brommelsiek Park, and Indian Camp Creek are perfect if you love being outside and want that natural, relaxed feel. These spots give us open space, water, and that soft golden light that makes everything look effortless.

Something a Little More Unique

Klondike Park and similar scenic spots bring in more texture and variety. Sand, cliffs, and wide open views make these sessions feel a little more bold while still keeping that natural look.

For a Fun or Urban Vibe

If you want something playful or different, places like The Mural Mile, Main Street St. Charles, or even a good alley downtown can give your photos a totally different energy. These are perfect for couples who want something less traditional.

Golden Hour Makes All the Difference

If there’s one thing I will always recommend, it’s golden hour.

That’s the hour before sunset when the light is soft, warm, and flattering. It’s what gives your photos that glowy, natural look you see all over my page.

Trust me on this one. The time of day matters more than the location.

Have Your Own Location?

Some of my favorite sessions have happened on family land, at a lake, or somewhere that already means something to you.

If you have a spot like that, I’m always in. Those sessions tend to feel the most personal and relaxed.

Not Sure Where to Go? I’ve Got You!

You don’t have to figure this out on your own.

I’ll help you choose a location based on your vibe, your comfort level, and what you want your photos to feel like years from now. Whether that’s running around in a field, standing barefoot in the water, or grabbing ice cream together, we’ll make it feel like you.
