There is something about Art Hill that always feels a little cinematic. The wide open space, the view stretching across Forest Park, and that golden light that seems to show up right on cue. It is one of those places that makes everything feel a little more elevated without even trying.

Rebekah and Daren brought exactly the kind of energy that makes a session like this effortless. The kind where the laughter comes easily, the quiet moments happen naturally, and you almost forget there is a camera involved.

Why Art Hill Is Always a Good Idea

Art Hill is one of the most iconic photo locations in St. Louis, and for good reason. The open landscape gives us room to move, play with different angles, and capture both wide scenic shots and more intimate moments.

We photographed this session right in the middle of the day, which might surprise people. Instead of harsh sunlight, we were lucky enough to get a soft, cloudy sky that acted like natural diffused light. Every now and then, the sun would peek through just enough to add a little glow without overpowering the scene.

That mix created the kind of light that feels clean, even, and effortless, which is exactly what you want for an engagement session that focuses on connection instead of fighting the sun.

The Energy of This Session

Some sessions feel posed. This was not one of them.

From the start, it felt more like two people just enjoying time together while I happened to be there with a camera. A little walking, a little laughing, a few quiet moments mixed in. That balance always creates the kind of images that feel real when you look back on them.

Counting Down to SqWires

One of my favorite parts of engagement sessions is getting a glimpse into what is coming next. Rebekah and Daren are planning their wedding at SqWires, and if their session was any indication, it is going to be a beautiful day.

SqWires has such a unique character to it. It blends historic charm with a modern feel, which makes it an incredible backdrop for a wedding. I already know their day is going to be filled with personality, connection, and a whole lot of joy.
